Space Shuttle landed through low cloud, contrary to procedure

The Space Shuttle landing was under pilot control and was supposed to be in good visual conditions, with possible delays to re-entry and two alternate landing locations. In one case, STS-133, a combination of weather forecasting, weather, and human judgement led to a dangerous but successful landing through low cloud. Here’s the Flight Director’s story:
